Odor immission prognoses for agriculture, odor zone simulations for spatial planning procedures

Nowadays, odor emission prognoses are part of the planning phase of every modification or new construction project for animal stables and are necessary to obtain a building permit.

Furthermore, all Austrian communities are delegated to acquire emissions of existing agricultural animal farms in accordance with the Spatial Planning Act.

We support farmers, civil engineers, planning offices and communities in these projects.

Odour immission prognoses with GRAL

We calculate the odor zones of animal farms using the GRAL software (Lagrange particle model). This method is currently the only calculation method according to the state of the art and has replaced previously common methods such as the “Gauß-model” (odor circle).

Based on these calculations, we provide data for:

  • Preliminary immission-forecasts (e.g. comparison of animal live stock old: new)
  • Immission evaluation for building permit procedures
  • Optimization concepts for ventilation systems
  • Spatial planning procedures (land use plan, local development concept, etc.)

Farm data collection using HofEr

We are happy to take care of the inventory data collection of agricultural sites, which serves as a starting point for calculating the odor zones in accordance with the Spatial Planning Act; In particular, this is currently required in Styria according to the “Steiermärkische Geruchsimmissionsverordnung 2023”. For this we use the software HofEr (Agricultural data collection software).
